Kick-off Meeting

Welcome words
The MotivAction kick-off meeting was held on June 15, 2022 at the Paris desks of the Council of Europe. The project is officially launched until December 31, 2024 (see calendar tab).

The meeting began with speeches by Mrs Sophie Kwasny (Council of Europe), Mrs Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin (French National Gambling Authority) and Mr Corentin Segalen (Coordinator of the French national platform against the manipulation of sports competitions and coordinator of the MotivAction project). They recalled the interest and the ambition to carry out this project over several years, with a diversity in the actors involved.

Then, the national platforms of the partner countries (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, France, Moldova, Poland, Portugal) presented themselves and confirmed their willingness to participate in this project fighting against the manipulation of sports competitions. Interventions by members of the French platform followed one another: the Ministry of Sports, the French Tennis Federation, the French financial prosecutor, the National Olympic Committee (CNOSF) and the betting operator under exclusive rights on the physical distribution network.
The sports actors participating in the project (EU Athletes, ICCE, IFSO) presented their structure and affirmed their involvement in this innovative project (see presentation of the actors in the tab: Sports organizations).

Finally, the institutional supports of the project took the floor or were physically or virtually present: Mr Friedrich Martens (International Olympic Committee), Mr Nicolas Saydé (Council of Europe), and Mr Vincent Ven (UEFA).
Administrative and management aspects
The afternoon was devoted to the technical and managerial aspects of the project. The context, the objectives and the main phases were recalled. A presentation of project management, coordination activities, expertise building, methods of consulting sport stakeholders and national platforms, operationalization during Paris 2024, and the impacts, dissemination and exploitation results has been achieved. The partners were able to discuss all these subjects. A discussion focused on administrative issues and budgetary control.
MotivAction is officially launched !
The day was a great success. The project partners (around 30 physically or virtually participants)Â were able to meet to lay the foundations to start this beautiful project.
